on a weird finger-look-a-alike plant.. really weird, dunno wat that plant's called. looks as though it has finger nails too.. eww

rest of the species were hmm...hibernating somewhere today. seems like i always spot the imperials.. Common Imperials rarer and nicer eh. AH next.

Although it's feasting on some really gross stuff here, and a little overexposed (sigh) and a lil blur (double sigh)... still my 1st shot of it. worth a post :)

I got another Branded Imperial, but with chipped wings and tail.. poor thg~ a white throated king fisher from afar.. and some sunbird thingy I didnt even bother ID-ing.

Not very nice weather for shooting lately. all the butterflies don't wanna come out play~

Common Imperial

(at 1st, i was told its the Branded Imperial, but after some researching.. i tot it looks more like Common Imperial? or did i rem wrongly!? anyway that explains why my filename is wrong..heh lazy to re-upload)

and according to The Intended, its a pretty good find, abit more difficult to chance upon :)

so i've read, the tails/hindwings..are believed to function as illusionary decoy to fool predators into attacking the tails rather than the head. mother nature's simply awesome~!

btw, suddenly feel my blog looks very nice with the 3 photos of butterflies now. hahaha. and i feel so pro calling the butterflies by their names ! hahah~ "oh look at that branded imperial sunning over there.." hahah, okay rahh, i did not ID them myself this time round~ i was told~ but hey, im learning ! will get there one day.. at least now i can recognise quite a few :p

原来 this is called a shield bug. heh..i never knew. apparently, there are approximately 6500 different species of shield bugs. amazing. i read alot on other species... but i just cant find the name for this particular one... "hello mr. tribal mask...what's your name please?"
